SOPHA presents its one-day introductory class covering the basics of studio lighting for photographers. This program is essential for photographers making the leap into total lighting control in and out of the studio. Using SOPHA's dedicated training facility and their studio strobes, this hands on class will get you using studio lighting confidently in short order!
KickStart Studio Lighting is a one day course is designed to get you started using studio lighting! Flash meters, studio strobes, grid spots, gobos and soft boxes are just a few of the tools used. This is a fast moving class with short lectures and plenty of hands-on time. In the afternoon we will use models as subjects to further hone our skills. KickStart Studio Lighting is a great introduction all that SOPHA can offer. All lighting equipment will be provided by SOPHA.
What you need to know
Participants must have a basic understanding of exposures, and be able to make those adjustments in manual mode on their camera (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO).
What you need to bring
You will need an SLR (digital preferred) to get the most out of this class. It should have a standard ISO hot shoe. (Note Sony and Minolta DSLRs are non-standard and you should give us a call for more information.) Be sure to have a fully charged battery, memory cards, and a lens with a focal length of 50mm to 70mm or so, although most folks will have a lens in their bag which will work well.
What is included
Lunch and model fees are included in the course cost.
The course is offered on a weekend day, from 9am to 5pm.
